This project was fun for me, as I was tacked with designing a brochure for a National Park. As I live two miles form the Joshua Tree National Park (JTNP), I had plenty of inspiration for this project. The park has quickly become a favorite of mine, so I have a lot of self created assets to use for photos and copy assets.

 

During my research I located the National Park Service (NPS) style guide, so I decided to work as thosgh I was tasked by the NPS to design a brochure for them. Having to stay within the style guidelins was fun for ma, even though I would have perhaps made some different design decisions, I was bound by the rules set forth in the style guide. I did deviate from the standard by using the NPS 1945 typeface for the title copy and plant headers. As this is an anniversary year for the park, I thought that a heritage font would be a subtle way to add a positive design concept to the design.

 

The maps, copy, park logo and annaversary badge were all pulled from the asset bank on the online NPS design page. The photos are all my personal property.
